The prices of engines and cars.

My mom's cousin Cara had asked me what the prices are for engines and train cars. Cars are mostly around $30  to $80. Engines are mostly around $250 to $500. Some cost even a few thousand dollars! It is an expensive hobby. eBay is a great place to buy less expensive used engines and cars!

My sprite boxcar update

I have a Sprite boxcar that I got for Christmas in 2011. My nonni and BB gave it to me.it came in an older 1970's box. It is all lime green and has a big sprite logo on it. Like most of the older Lionel trains it has plastic wheels known as ( trucks ). The body is also plastic. The door also opens and closes as most of the boxcars do. On the left side there is a small CocaCola logo. I know this wasn't long but I wanted to share this boxcar with you guys. I will post a picture of it.

The story of the CSX train

In Christmas 2006 I had asked for a CSX diesel engine. I had wanted one since I heard about them. So on Christmas I was looking forward to see if I got one. So I opened each present one by one. By the time I opened the last present I realized that I never got it. I loved all the other stuff I hade gotten. I was very thankful for every present that I had gotten. Then I looked around the tree and saw the there was one left! I opened it up and there it was! I was so happy and exited. Of coarse I immediately ran it on the train table. ALL ABOARD! Now a few years later I still have it and at one point I thought it was broken. Around 2010 the CSX was not running well. It sounded very scratchy and was not working well at all. So in one f my other post titled ( The old stuff )  I told you guys about this man who fixed my DT&I engine well we sent the CSX to him and he again fixed it for us. He said that the wheels were dirty because of the track ( I had not clean the track in a long time ) so right when I got home I cleaned the track and was glad to see it run smooth. I want to say thanks to that nice man who got out of his way to fix my two trains.

Trying to get it ready

My brother jack is having a birthday party in 2 days and I want to get the layout looking its best. My brother is turning 6 and of course they would probably like it because they are younger. The room is a big mess there are buildings and some old track all over the place. There is also a problem with my track. Some parts of it cause the train to stop. The track might just be dirty. Other reason can be that the track in not connected together in some spots. Also some of the accessories are not put op yet.

The best train shop

After I had a doctors appointment my mom hade told me about a cool Lionel / electric train shop in Rockville ( we live in Maryland ) so we went to go check it out. When we got there, there was a cool window display with a bunch of electric Lionel trains. The building looked small on the outside and was pretty big in the inside. There was an upstairs and a downstairs. Downstairs was mostly train sets. The upstairs had assesories like cars and more trains. The man who worked there was very nice he gave my brother and I a catalogue for free! There was also a train engine for only $120! It's not like it was $500. Compared to most prices.there were shelves and shelves of trains and assesories. It was a big place and had a lot of stuff. Hope you guys check it out sometime.

The old stuff

Back in 1983 my mom got a DT&I diesel engine for Christmas. It was mostly used for around the Christmas tree. Now it is 2013 and the engine is still up and running. My mom gave it to me when I was very little. I enjoyed it along with my other New York Central steam engine. Although it was having trouble running and at one point it stopped working! After a few years I did nothing about it. I basically just forgot about it. Then my mom heard about a man who fixes electric trains. He told us to bring it in so he could look at and see what he could do about it. We left it there for about a week. We came back and it was fixed and in good condition ready to run! It was amazing that a man could fix an electric train made in 1983! I was very happy and excited that it could finally run!

A Cool Place

This weekend my family and I stayed at an old house in Faber, Virginia. We are Clemson Tiger fans so we went to see the Clemson Virginia game with some friends. Clemson won 59-10. Anyway, the house had about 25 acres of property. There was a train track right next to the house. I could see a lot of trains come past the house. Mostly Norfolk Southern. Next to the house was a pretty river and small water fall. We played a lot of football in the yard and had a lot of fun this weekend. Go Tigers!

The New Table and Room

Remember the last post I did ( The Move). I talked about setting up a new train table at the new house. Well now that is complete! I waited for a few months and it finally got complete. My Dad and I worked on it for about a week. It all started when I set up a track on the floor I ran the train on it. Then I went to show my Dad and he said that I need to biuld a table for this or my trains and track would break. So about a few days later we were working on the table. I have posted pictures of my older train set and table. It was pretty big in my opinion. This one is much smaller but it is still fun. It is in a back room in my basement. It takes up most of the small room. I have buildings, cars, rocks, track, trees, snow and trains all put down on the table. I am looking to putting a road going through the town and stopping it in the country. I will post some pictures of it soon.

The move.

I haven't been on the blog because I have been busy and didn't have much to talk about. I haven't gotten any more trains or accessories for my train table. But today is about something big that has happened. We moved to a new house and it took a long time to get all of the trains and the table packed up. It took me about 3 weeks to get the rocks, buildings, cars, trees, snow and track. Then my dad and I had to take down the table and that only took about 2 days. Then after everything was in packages we took trips to the house ( which was nearby) and took it to my new train room. Then everything else we put on the moving truck. Then I had to unpack it. Then everything was in the new room and the new room is much smaller by one time or two. We were going to work on the table today but we couldn't find the drill so we didn't. I may do some more train interviews because I'm behind on that. It is great to talk again!

Pennsylvania Broadway Limited Passenger Car

Of course there are a lot of Pennsylvania passenger cars on the market but out of any Pennsylvania passenger car I have seen the best is the Pennsylvania broadway limited. Most of my trains are Lionel but this one is made by Williams Electrice Trains. Now I don't know that much about Williams Electrice Trains so if I say some things that are wrong about this company feel free to correct me (: . First I will tell you about the car. The body is plastic but the trucks are die- cast metal. There are lights in the car and the car lights up when you have track power. The top of the car is black and the middle is brown like a Pennsylvania car would be. The Pennsylvania sign is gold and so is the broadway limited sign. There are two small thin lines that are gold as well.In the window there are people so when it lights up you see people inside. You can see the nails and screws on the car. The doors on the car do not open. The car does not come with a set as far as I know. I think this is the best replica of a real Pennsylvania passenger car. It is one of the most detailed train cars I have ever seen even though it is not made by Lionel. That about wraps it up for this review. I am William and I will see you next time. (:

My Train Table Scenery

One of my favorite things to do is work on the layout of my train table.  I love working on the landscape and making my train town look as realistic as possible.  Here are a few pictures:

My favorite building is the Harvest Valley Tractor Repair Shop:

I also love my Lionel Train Station:

Here are a few other buildings that I really like:

Here I am running one of my trains (Go Clemson!):

My 5 O-Scale Engines

My favorite engine is my Blue Bird Wabash.  I got this for Christmas one year.

I also have a CSX engine.  I got it as a Christmas present in 2006.

I have a DT&I engine that was my mom's when she was a little girl.  It's really old!

I also have a New York Central Engine.  My Poppy gave me this for Christmas when I was two years old.  It started my love of trains!

Lastly, I have a Sante Fe non-powered engine.
